The Finnish Naval Reserve
The Finnish Naval Reserve (in Finnish Sininen Reservi ry, in Swedish Marinreserven rf) is a registered non-profit parent organization for the Finnish voluntary reservist associations connected to the Finnish Navy or the Finnish Coast Guard.
Founded in 1997, we bring together national defence associations operating at sea and on the coast, support training and promote cooperation between our member associations. Our goal is to develop the capabilities of the Finnish naval defence reserve, strengthen the will to defend the country and foster maritime military traditions. This mission is reflected in our core values – cooperation, safety and know-how.
Our activities include a variety of events, such seminars and competitions that offer an arena for contacts and communality. In providing voluntary training, we collaborate with the National Defence Training Association (Maanpuolustuskoulutusyhdistys), of which we are a member. In addition, our member associations operate a fleet of vessels for naval training purposes. We also support building international relationships by training liaison officers.
